Friday afternoon saw the majority of York Squash Club and others arrive at the upstairs rooms of Clifton Park for the Celebration of Life for Mr Brian Lennon.
York 7 Captain, mini league organiser, club night stalwart and great supporter of welcoming people into the game.
My introduction to Brian was a tough email asking about the requirements of captaining a side in the York & District. Answering his barrage of questions made me realise just how little information from the league there is for new captains. Something still on the to do list but the email replies to Brian would be 90% of the way there.
Never one to pass up a drop shot opportunity, playing Brian needed a long warm up but it was such a friendly game, because Brian was that kind of friendly bloke who celebrated your good play before hitting an unreturnable drop shot from some magic position. Club night on a Friday at York will sorely miss him, as will the York club and the York & District.
