| Report: | Match report Dunnington 2 Vs Uni Students (Y&D Div2)
Our 2nd home match and our 3rd of the season saw us playing the Uni Students, on paper they have a very strong team, however they arrived in cars and on bicycles eager to play and hungry for food. The team captain was up first and found himself at the wrong end of the first game, but he used age and experience to turn it around and claim victory. No1s faced each other on court 1 and although the university fielded Maximus we fielded a gladiator and Sean duly won 3-0. Our veteran player (69yrs young) this week managed to overwhelm his much younger (aged 22) opponent with some very clever play and skill. Drafted in at 5, marathon retriever Peter snatched a quick win leaving just the No2s to grind out a thriller with Rob eventually sneaking home 3-2. We are not sure how we won 5-0 but we’ll take it and enjoy it. Once again the food did not disappoint and despite the appearance of the Mad Hatter who marked a game (just 1) we are looking forward to our next match vs Wigginton Squash and Social Club |
